It was not in China, nor Thailand, nor Brazil or the United States, where cases usually occur. The incredible and even anecdotal case occurred in the Villa Javier neighborhood, in the south of Bogotá.
Adriano Gomez, owner of the premises The Arepas of WhatsApp, He told how the robbery of which he was to be a victim ended in a talk with an unthinkable and even unusual ending. The power of his word ended up defeating a young man of approximately 24 years, who is called ‘Lucho’.

According to what was told to EL TIEMPO by the owner of the premises, which last Saturday was barely a month old in the area, on Thursday March 18, very early, when he was preparing to open the premises with the two people who collaborate in the care, he was approached by a young man, visibly upset, who perhaps under the effects of some drug or psychoactive substance, entered the place and with a gun in hand ordered them to hand over their belongings, cell phones and money from the cash register.
Gómez, scared and surprised by the scene, with his hands up, indicated to the thief that the only thing available at that moment were some arepas that they were on the grill and that you could accompany it with a soursop juice, in milk or in water, which are the specialty of the house.
The person you are targeting is a girl who has been working with us for just a month and is a mother of three children, do not hurt her
A few suspenseful seconds passed and the young man, who still hadn’t lowered his gun, pointed it decisively at Génesis, who was near the cash register. Right away, Adriano urged the young man to calm down and explained to the armed man that “the person you are targeting is a girl who has been working with us for just a month and is the mother of three children, do not hurt her “.

Adriano says that everyone was very nervous and the thief responded angrily: “that’s not my problem, give me what you have.” “I insisted again that I had the arepas ready to eat,” he added.
Then, with astuteness and a lot of patience, without leaving aside the anguish that was experienced in those minutes, the owner of the premises told him: “Man, don’t steal from me. Rather come, sit down and have a ‘guanabanazo’ and eat a hot peto arepa with a lot of cheese, how do you like the juice, in water or milk?
“In milk”, was heard in the place, in a calmer tone.
The owner of the premises realized at that moment that he already seemed to have the situation on his side, breathed more calmly and gave the order to Génesis and Hámilton, his collaborators, to serve a good glass of juice and a special arepa, with a lot of cheese.
Then the young man tucked the gun under the shirt he was wearing, calmed down, and sat down on one of the chairs.
The merchant continued speaking to the young man, who already had a different face, and asked him what he did. With the first bites of the arepa, Lucho indicated that his father worked in the sale of tiles and that he helped him. But they were going through very difficult economic times.

Adriano told him that this was the best way, to work, that no matter how complicated the panorama was, there will always be a way out.
Despite the shock, I am very grateful to that person. That day, what I sell in one day, was achieved in a couple of hours. I insisted that he think of God, that he knows how to fix things
“Despite the shock, I am very grateful to that person. That day, what I sell in one day, was achieved in a couple of hours. I insisted that he think of God, that he knows how to solve things, ”explained in detail the owner of a place with the same name, already accredited, with four years of history, located in the north of the city.
But the unusual thing about the event is that in the end, whoever entered to rob the place, ended up paying the bill of 5,500 pesos and incidentally left the tip of 4,500 pesos, after canceling with a $ 10,000 bill.
“I told him it was an invitation from the house, but he insisted on paying me, I went around and he said:” No, my old man, the tip is for you, I take it in good time, “he sentenced.
Gómez maintained that his reaction, with the dialogue, was a way to disarm him. “I am a man who likes dialogue and I believe in second chances, in repentance. I hope the boy has understood the message and I hope that experience will serve him for his future,” concluded the lucky merchant.
