The mayor of the capital made the warning on his Twitter account, after that on Wednesday morning, San Victorino was seen to burst by the ‘early morning’, which citizens take advantage of to do their Christmas shopping.
Claudia Lopez wrote that for three months, both formal and informal commercials assumed the responsibility to follow protocols so that this popular store in the center of Bogotá could open in the middle of the pandemic.
He assured that if this Saturday agglomerations are reported again, he removes the authorization to do the ‘early morning’, that They allow the merchants of San Victorino to open their doors from 7:00 in the morning on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
And it is that the agglomerations in that sector of the city have been reported for several days, when the Christmas shopping began; some citizens seemed to forget the coronavirus emergency.
On the third and last day without VAT (November 21), for example, it was evident that there were no biosecurity protocols for the discount day and, on the contrary, there were riots of people.
The situation is worrisome because, although the mayor said that this year the second peak of coronavirus will not arrive in Bogotá, if a regrowth is planned for the next year, which may be much harder if the agglomerations continue, such as those that are come next.
The images taken a few days ago in the ‘Madrugón’ of San Victorino have no difference with those that went viral this afternoon on Twitter. A situation that worries about the current situation with the coronavirus. pic.twitter.com/VsQq64ogsj

Measures to control agglomerations in San Victorino
The Bogotá Mayor’s Office pointed out that as the December season has increased the flow of buyers and sellers in that sector, there will be new measures that will take effect from this Saturday:
- 10th Street will be completely pedestrianized, so that there is more space for formal and informal commerce.
- Fenced to control the capacity in the area.
- More public space managers (270) to verify that security measures are being met.
The ‘early morning’ of this weekend will be the great test to know if that activity is maintained or not.
