Uncertainty continues for the families of the eight young people who were kidnapped on February 27 of this year in Lower Cauca in Antioquia. The boys traveled asking for rides from Anserma (Caldas), to get to Cartagena, with the aim of getting to know the sea. However, the dream was frustrated by two armed men who kidnapped them when the truck on which they were hanging stopped at a gas station, according to Mauricio Ramírez, the only one freed of the young men who are missing today.

Ramírez was found by the Antioquia Police on a farm located in the rural area of Cáceres, on Monday, March 8. Although Colonel Jorge Cabra, Antioquia Police Commander, attributed the events to Los Caparros, the young man assures that the armed men were never identified. They were detained and later taken to different places. He ended up on a farm where he had to feed the animals.

“We walked a lot, the minutes seemed eternal and then I was alone, I was not with anyone. I just had to work and that they were going to pay me for that (…) They say they were taken to other farms, supposedly to work, ”Ramírez explained in an interview with Blue radio.

Apparently this young man was released because his spine is deviated and approximately two years ago he had to undergo surgery, an operation where they put 20 screws.

“I was working for 12 days (…) They treated me well, I didn’t lack food, but I couldn’t go out and leave. As I could not do much they put me to feed the animals ”, added Ramírez to Blu.

The young man is in the company of his family. However, the fear and uncertainty continue as his friends are missing and there are no traces. Some of the names of the other young people correspond to: José David Valencia Ramírez, 15 years old; Cristian Luna Valencia, 17 years old; Andrés Fernando Valencia, 15 years old; Cristian Daniel Rendón Cardona, 20 years old; and Emmanuel Aguirre, 15 years old.

“Please be moved by these mothers, who are very desperate, who want to have our children; Please let them go, ”said Mónica Álvarez, mother of one of the disappeared to Snail News. This Friday, March 12, a march will be held in the municipality of Risaralda, Caldas, to demand the return of the young people whose whereabouts are still unknown.

The Caparros are a criminal organization that disputes the territory of lower Cauca Antioquia and the south of Córdoba with the Clan del Golfo. These areas are part of a strategic corridor for organizations related to drug trafficking, illegal mining and other illicit activities.
