A worldwide collective of artists took responsibility for the construction and installation of the monoliths that appeared in various parts of the world in recent days. The findings occurred in countries such as the United States, Romania, the Netherlands, and Colombia.
The first of the metallic monoliths was found in mid-November by a helicopter in a remote and desert area of the state of Utah and was removed at the end of that same week, according to local media, by a group of environmental activists since hundreds of people those days they traveled through the desert to see the structure.
A second monolith with a triangular base was found at the end of November on the hill of Batca Doamnei, located in the Romanian city of Piatra Neamt, in the northeast of the country, and was also removed, although it is unknown who did it.
Another was later found on a mountainous route on the central coast of California and disappeared a day later.
In the case of Colombia, the alleged finding reported on social networks occurred in Chía, Cundinamarca, which led to mockery and memes on social networks.
Hypotheses about the origin of the monoliths fired the imaginations of UFO watchers, conspiracy theorists, and fans of the late British filmmaker Stanley Kubrick around the world. This last theory is related to a scene from the science fiction movie ‘Space Odyssey’, based on the work of Arthur C. Clarke, in which the structures were actually advanced extraterrestrial machines.
The pillars, which caused intrigue around the world and whose images went viral on networks, are the work of the collective ‘The Most Famous Artist’, who through his Instagram profile explained the way of construction and revealed its specifications through a design ‘render’.
In one of the posts one of the ‘alien monoliths’ was offered for sale for the sum of $ 45,000.
