This Wednesday the country met the face of Alekandr Paristov, one of the Russians accused of carrying out espionage activities in Colombia’s energy sector.
The image was revealed on the Twitter account of journalist Luis Carlos Vélez for the medium La FM, which also confirmed that Paristov and Aleksandr Belousov were in search of hiring personnel to help them in their work, including surveillance and monitoring with drones of various points of the country’s oil and energy infrastructure.
In addition, the media confirmed that, apparently, Russian officials were collecting information on Ecopetrol operations. Likewise, it was found that there was an interest in knowing information and even hacking the computer systems of other international oil companies, including the US, that operated in the country.

Faced with this, the FM revealed that United States authorities have already been contacting people in Colombia to learn first-hand information about Russian activities in the country.
It was also established that the Russians expelled from Colombia wanted to collect information on water plants and production plants in the country.

This Friday it was also learned that the Russian government summoned the Colombian ambassador in Moscow, Alfonso López Caballero, to express his discontent with the expulsion of the officials accused of carrying out espionage activities.

Russia asserted that the measure taken by the Colombian Government was unfounded and ratified its decision to expel, using the principle of diplomatic reciprocity, two Colombian diplomats from Moscow.
“This step does not correspond to the spirit of the traditionally friendly and mutually respectful relations between Russia and Colombia,” said the Russian government.
