They request a new motion of censure on the Minister of Defense – Congress – Politics

In an unprecedented case, the Defense Minister, Carlos Holmes Trujillo, will have to face a third vote of no confidence in Congress.

The request was made by Senator Roy Barreras, who cited a debate on political control, held this Thursday in the Senate, and in which the official was questioned about different aspects of the country’s security.

For Barreras, the answers of Minister Holmes Trujillo “were not satisfactory” and, therefore, he presented a formal request for the new motion of censure in which the names of other senators appear.

At the same time, Senator Ernesto Macías and other senators asked to vote that the plenary session had been satisfied with the Minister’s responses, which was described by some opponents as a “maneuver” by Uribism in favor of the official.

After this vote, 66 senators voted in favor of declaring themselves satisfied with what Holmes Trujillo answered and 1 in the opposite direction.

Thus, the case of Minister Holmes Trujillo would be the first of a minister on which three motions of censure are requested: the one he passed in the House of Representatives last week, the one he has cited this Thursday and the new one requested by the Senator Barreras.
