The man accused of murdering a 19-year-old girl in Cali, during an alleged robbery attempt, was recaptured after noon this Thursday.
The alleged murderer had been released, after the stipulated hours had elapsed to be presented before a judge.
The Prosecutor’s Office had presented the evidence and testimonies of the case at 34 hours after the capture, but the judge in charge of the case connected to the virtual hearing two hours later, fulfilling the 36 hours stipulated for the presentation of the indicated in the hearing, for what had been released.
Apparently, the judge had technical problems connecting to the virtual hearing. After knowing his freedom, relatives of the victim expressed their concern about the case and the Prosecutor requested another judge to issue a new arrest warrant.
The man is accused of murdering Natalia Cortez Tenorio, a young Sena student, when he tried to steal his cell phone and briefcase at 6:00 am last Tuesday, at Carrera 26H3 # 72P1-21, in the Los Lagos neighborhood.
“Natalia went with her mother to catch the bus to go to work, a few meters before arriving, a guy approaches her from behind, grabs her briefcase and says: pass me everything you have there,” said a relative who requested not be identified.
In this alleged theft, the man shot the young woman, causing a wound to the head. The student managed to be transferred to the Valle del Lili clinic, where she died on Tuesday night.
According to the Secretariat of Security, in Cali there have been 906 violent deaths in Cali so far this year.
