They prosecute a priest and 11 more investigated for sexual abuse against minors in Nariño

On the morning of this November 11, the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation announced the capture and prosecution of 12 men for their alleged responsibility in sexual abuse against boys, girls and adolescents in the department of Nariño, in the southwestern part of the country . One of those investigated is a priest.

The name of the priest, who was part of the Diocese of Ipiales, is Aníbal Marcial Belalcázar. To him, according to the investigating body, He is accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl, with whom, based on the investigations, “he would have close contact”.

Regarding the capture of the cleric, the Diocese of Ipiales said that, “it is a pain for the Christian people and society, situations such as those that are currently being investigated, for which they will continue to work for a culture of good treatment, applying the norms for the protection of minors and other actions that contribute to this purpose ”.

Among those investigated is also a father who had allegedly abused his own 14-year-old daughter for almost three years. The rapes would have occurred in the home where they both lived.

Another of those captured during the last month, thanks to the investigation work carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office, a good watchdog of a school in the department. The alleged abuser used to abuse a 16-year-old student, according to the investigations, “When he approached him to access the institution’s internet network and thus do his homework.”

The Pasto transport terminal, according to the investigating body, was also the scene of a scene in which sex offenders moved. There, he caught the attention of a man who offered a minor a job washing sheets and caring for an older adult in a hotel. What the criminal did was take her to a room to, supposedly, wait for the owner of the establishment, and propose to have sexual relations. Given the refusal, says the Prosecutor’s Office, “It is presumed that he made lustful touching on her body.”
