They order freedom of captured by attack to the Andino Commercial Center – Crimes – Justice

A Bogotá judge released Lina Jiménez, linked to the investigation into the attack against the Andino Commercial Center on June 17, 2017, in which three women died.

Although she had been released due to expiration of terms, on October 14 the investigated woman was recaptured two days later, in compliance with a new arrest warrant.

The judicial office declared the capture illegal and ordered his immediate release.

At the same time, the first criminal judge of the Bogotá Circuit ruled in second instance on the freedom granted to five other of those involved.

(In context: There are already seven detainees for the Andino case with release orders.)

They are Andrés Mauricio Bohórquez Flórez, Juan Camilo Pulido Rivero, Boris Ernesto Rojas Quijano and Alejandra Méndez Molano and Lizeth Rodríguez, who were released in July, a decision that was appealed by the Prosecutor’s Office.

The judge in the case considered that there were irregularities in the recapture process and upheld the decision that grants them freedom.

(More notes on the case: Against whom are you going to declare captured for an attack in the Andino?)

He also pointed out that these people are still linked to the investigation and will have to continue to comply with the call of justice.

Due to the attack, only Iván Ramírez, who according to the investigation is known as the Taliban, is accused of the crimes of conspiracy to commit a crime, terrorism, aggravated homicide and attempted murder.

Ramírez had been captured in July 2017 but was released because the judge in charge of the process considered that a procedural error had occurred during the arrest.

That same day, however, another arrest warrant was issued that became effective a few days later in Sasaima, Cundinamarca.

The lawyer Francisco Bernate, representative of the victims in the case, indicated that they hope that the process will finally advance and “that the end result is that there are some responsible and clarity of what happened.

He added that it has not been an easy process, but that, for example, it has been possible to grant a principle of opportunity to one of the captured women who will be a witness for the Prosecutor’s Office. “The victims hope that in the end there will be truth, justice and reparation,” he concluded.
