Campo Elías Galindo Álvarez was assassinated in Medellín. His body was found in his home and he had stab wounds. The Police and local authorities offer a 20 million reward for information that allows the capture of those responsible for the crime.
“It seems a theft, however, there are some elements that the Police and the Prosecutor’s Office are already initiating an investigation process and will later give the reason for his death,” said José Gerardo Acevedo, Medellín’s Secretary of Security.

Via twitter the mayor of Medellín, Daniel Quintero, expressed his sorrow for the murder of Galindo and assured that there will be justice.
“Pain for the murder in his home of the professor and activist Campo Elias Galindo. There will be justice: Police and prosecutors work to capture those responsible. The Mayor’s Office has arranged up to 20 million for those who help us with identification tasks“, he claimed.
For his part, Jose Miguel Vivanco, Director of Human Rights Watch (HRW) for the Americas, condemned the murder and said that a prompt investigation should be guaranteed to bring those responsible to justice.
“Colombia: My rejection of the murder of the historian Campo Elías Galindo in Medellín. The authorities must guarantee a prompt, serious and credible investigation to bring those responsible to justice ”.
