The Gobernación del Valle offered a reward of up to $ 20 million for information that would identify the driver who hit a cyclist on a road on the outskirts of Palmira.

The president of the Valle del Cauca, Clara Luz Roldán, sent a message of strength to the man, who is seriously injured after being run over by a ‘ghost’ car.

“Strength and full recovery for Francisco Domínguez, the cyclist hit by a supposed ‘ghost’ car in the vicinity of Palmira. We offer $ 20 million for information that allows us to identify those responsible for the attack on the athletes,” he wrote on his Twitter account.

For Roldán, “road culture must prevail among those who move along the highways of our department and the practice of sport cannot be an exhibition of life. From the Government of Valle we make a call for sanity.”

Apparently, the affected person is a 37-year-old man identified as Fernando Domínguez, who suffered multiple trauma injuries and cervical fractures, when a car ran over several amateur cyclists and continued on.

“We are people with family, we get up to do a sport that we like. Some people in their vehicles or on their motorcycles are unaware that there is a life that has dreams, hopes. At this moment I am struggling to be able to walk again,” he said via video.

The accident was registered last Thursday, when the communicator by profession and manager of a company was traveling with other cyclists in the vicinity of Palmira, in Valle del Cauca, about 25 kilometers from Cali.

The man was referred to a health center, where he is recovering from his injuries, although he runs the risk of losing the mobility of his body, according to the medical report.

“Thanks to the doctors and God, especially God, who gave me the opportunity to live and that the impact did not kill me,” he said.

“My dreams are going to be delayed a bit. I thank a lot, all the cyclists, it is a moment to be united. We are a brotherhood and we all have to fight for our lives,” he said.

The authorities indicated that security cameras and other tests that could establish the identification of the car and its driver are being reviewed.

It should be remembered that between January 1 and August 30 of this year, 195 people who were cycling were reported and died in traffic accidents in Colombia, according to the report of the National Police.
