The Prosecutor’s Office and the Police dealt a blow to the criminal structure El Mesa responsible for several crimes, including homicides and forced displacement committed in Medellín, Bello and other regions of Colombia.

In the operation, several assets in Antioquia and Sucre valued at 200 billion pesos were seized.

According to information provided by the Prosecutor’s Office and the Police, a trace was made to the El Mesa criminal organization, which operated in Antioquia since the 1990s in the illegal business of drug trafficking, homicides and forced displacement.

According to the authorities, this criminal gang carried out several maneuvers to hide the money and property, which it placed in the name of other people.

“The affected properties would be in the name of presumed relatives, minors. The gang is accused of drug trafficking crimes. The occupation proceedings were carried out by Dijín personnel in Medellín, Barbosa and Tunja, among others, ”said Catalina Noguera, director of the Specialized Prosecutor for Extinction of Property Rights.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, in the occupation proceedings for the purpose of extinction of the property right, a mining title for the exploitation of coltan in an area of ​​1,995 hectares, located in a special environmental protection zone in Vaupés, was found among the affected assets.

The property was in the name of a person affiliated with Sisbén.

“There are also two cabins facing the Caribbean Sea, in Tolú, Sucre,” added Prosecutor Noguera.

For the accusing entity, some of the properties in Bello, supposedly, were handed over to the indicated members of El Mesa by some construction companies, in order to avoid the collection of extortion and stop receiving threats.
