Husbands Tomás Correa and Unilda Díaz were murdered in Lorenzo and their daughter, Luisa Fernanda Correa Díaz, in El Banquito, detailed the Foundation, which made a “vehement call” to the Government to fight the criminal gangs that operate in the region.

“Painful situations like this one reveal the need for comprehensive and structural measures by the Colombian state,” said Cordoberxia, explaining that those killed belonged to the National Comprehensive Program for the Substitution of Illicit Crops.

In Tierralta, a municipality in the south of Córdoba, as well as in neighboring Montelíbano and Puerto Libertador, the civilian population is at permanent risk and has suffered constant threats and assassinations due to the presence of various illegal armed groups such as the Gaitanista Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AGC), heirs of the paramilitary groups and dissidents of the Farc. The Tierralta Mayor’s Office rejected and condemned the murders and urged the Government to take action to preserve the peace. “We reject and condemn these criminal acts and urge not only the departmental authorities, but the National Government to articulate efforts to preserve peace in the municipality of Tierralta, the epicenter of peace processes of national connotation, ”said the Mayor’s Office on social media.

He also announced that he will hold an extraordinary security council “in order to investigate these events that mourn our municipality, we will spare no effort so that the institutions guarantee peaceful coexistence and the security that our territory is entitled to.”
