Sael Puerta Rodríguez, 44 years old; and Fredy Batista Altamar, 38, are the most recent victims of the homicides that occurred in Cartagena and in the municipality of Clemencia, in the North of Bolívar.

The last of these events took place on Thursday at 6:50 in the afternoon at a slot machine game at the entrance to the La Esperanza neighborhood. Puerta Rodríguez, a taxi driver, father of eight and a resident of the Villas de La Candelaria neighborhood, was playing alone in the living room, in front of a ‘slot machine’, when a man through a window shot him point blank and without saying a word.

A security camera recorded the crime scene and shows when the individual, wearing a red shirt and wearing a cap, enters the premises and finishes off his victim on the ground. Sael didn’t have time to escape. His death was on the spot.

Relatives of the driver said that Sael had arrived at his mother’s house in the La María neighborhood in the morning and left him the ingredients so that she could prepare a meal for him. He returned in the afternoon, had dinner, and went out again, this time heading to the machine shop, where he was murdered.

Relatives of Puerta say that no enemies knew him and that is why they do not know the motives for the crime.

Hours earlier, at 5 in the morning, the homicide of Fredy Batista Altamar’s bricklayer occurred in Clemencia. The victim was leaving his home, in the Caracolí neighborhood, when he was intercepted by three subjects who immediately attacked him with a knife.

Batista’s death was on the spot and his family took his body to their home, where the police had to carry out the judicial inspection. His relatives believe that the crime would have been in retaliation for a fight that occurred days ago in that town.

Police say they have identified the three alleged assailants.
