They extend isolation and health emergency due to coronavirus

The head of state recalled that despite the fact that the number of cases has begun to decline in most countries, the World Health Organization maintains the status of a pandemic.

Duque explained that to highlight that continues “the maximum alert of the entire health system of the planet to face this contingency” and that is why negotiations are under way to obtain the vaccine, which in Colombia already has 20 million doses guaranteed.

“The pandemic will be in force until we have a vaccine with the capacity to be universalized, to have effective treatments or to consolidate some type of herd immunity,” said Duque.

The president mentioned all these aspects to announce that, in order to avoid outbreaks, and that is why the health emergency will be expanded, which, in principle, would end next Monday, November 30:

“Based on the global alert reading and analysis, I have given the instruction that the health emergency will last until February 28, 2021.”

It will be 90 more days of this stage for Colombians, which allows the Government to take the measures it deems necessary to face the pandemic and prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

In this sense, the president specified, “the concept of preventive isolation with responsible individual distancing” is also extended, which on other occasions he defined as selective isolation.

These restrictions, which still exist for some sectors, although to a lesser extent, will last until December 31, 2020 “to continue moving towards the safe reactivation” of the country.

Duque highlighted a very good behavior of Colombians in the last three months and urged citizens to maintain it during the month of December.
