‘The children of Pornhub’, this was the title of the column of the American journalist Nicholas Kristof, published in the newspaper The New York Times, in which he compiles several complaints of young people who were sexually exploited by Pornhub, the largest pornographic website in the world.

Several minors around the world such as Serena, Fleites, Nicoles, Cali and the Colombian, whom he called Xela, told him their stories of how they were sexually exploited.

According to the columnist, at age 16, two Americans paid Xela for a sexual encounter, which they filmed and later posted on Pornhub.

“They made money with my body, in the worst moment of my life,” denounced the woman, who, as she said, thought about committing suicide after that episode.

After these complaints, the representative to the House Ángela Sánchez Leal assured that “Colombia is lagging behind in establishing clear measures to establish restrictions on these portals that are presented as legal”, while, according to the parliamentarian, countries such as Canada, the United States and the UK are taking action against this pornography portal.

Sánchez added: “This news shows our little commitment as a State in accompanying victims of sexual violence, especially our minors.”

In fact, following the denunciations of the prestigious United States newspaper, Visa and Mastercard said that they will investigate their financial ties with MindGeek, the parent company of Pornhub, and Canada, where this organization is based, will seek through Minister Steven Guilbeault a regulation to end sexual exploitation on pornography sites.

“I call on the Government of Colombia, we must work even harder and take clear actions against this pandemic called sexual exploitation of children and women,” the congresswoman declared.

According to Sánchez’s complaint, in Colombia, between 2014 and 2019, the investigations carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office in the crime of pornography with minors have had an increase: in the range of 14-17 years there was an increase of 253%, passing from 93 investigations in 2014 to 328 in 2019; Among children aged 6 to 11 there was an increase of 320%, going from 25 investigations in 2014 to 105 investigations in 2019.

“We will not allow the sexual exploitation networks to win this battle, in which the lives and dignity of women and our children are at risk,” the representative emphasized.
