They capture four Venezuelans linked in plan to destabilize Colombia

Colombian authorities, with the collaboration of the United States, captured four Venezuelans whom they accuse of being “Linked to destabilization events” in the country and associated with former Venezuelan general Clíver Alcalá Cordones, detained in the United States.

“Operation Santa Ana was carried out, where criminals were captured in our country who were trying to structure destabilization operations”, said President Iván Duque, from Tibú (Norte de Santander).

Duque Márquez added that these four people are “Allegedly promoted and financed by the dictatorial regime of Nicolás Maduro”.

The director of the Police, General Óscar Atehortúa, gave details of the arrests and stated that these people are accused of participating by the “Formation of Venezuelan military groups in Colombian territory in order to carry out training for illicit activities”.

According to Atehortúa, in the operation, which required five months of investigations, the Police, the Army, the Prosecutor’s Office and Colombia Migration intervened, and counted “With the backing of the US Bureau of Investigation and the FBI”.

In Bogotá they were arrested Rayder Alexander Russo, and the brothers Juvenal and José Sequea Torres, while in Barranquilla Yacsi Alexandra Álvarez was captured.

The latter is accused of being “The person in charge of the logistics of the organization and of generating international contacts with the aim of buying weapons and carrying out operations that were unsuccessful against the Colombian State”.

“They were planning destabilizing actions in Colombia in our territory in order to delegitimize the institutions of the Colombian State”added General Atehortúa.

Additionally, the Police Director assured that they also have ties to the “Traffic, carrying arms and ammunition, restricted by the public force in Colombia”.

At the same time, he reported that the four detainees are related to the seizure on March 23 of an arsenal of 26 AR-15 assault rifles, night sights, rifle sights, radios and other accessories for military use.

This armament was transported in a van on the highway between the cities of Barranquilla and Santa Marta.

“From this fact, this operation was carried out, which was carried out in Bogotá with three arrests and in Barranquilla with the capture of a woman”, said the director of the Police.
