The attorney general of Colombia, Francisco Barbosa, announced on Thursday the arrest of four people, who would be part of one of the dissidents of the extinct FARC, for its connection with the murder of six young people in Nariño, in southwestern Colombia.

“In a joint operation of the Attorney General’s Office and the National Police we managed to clarify the multiple homicide that occurred in the district (village) of La Guayacana, rural area of Tumaco, on August 22,” Barbosa reported in company of the president, Iván Duque.

The four captured, who will be charged with the crimes of aggravated homicide and conspiracy to commit a crime, are part of the Oliver Sinisterra armed dissidence, a split from the FARC guerrillas, already demobilized.

The detainees have been identified as Cristian Angulo, alias ‘Samper’; Carmen Amanda Parra Medina, alias ‘La Mona’; Andrés Felipe Castillo Cuero, alias ‘Gordo’; and Joni Angulo, alias ‘Joni’; and Albeany Angulo.

In the last two weeks we have been able to clarify six multiple homicides that left 32 victims in the departments of Norte de Santander, Cauca, Antioquia, Valle del Cauca, Cundinamarca, Arauca and Nariño”, Pointed out Barbosa, who also added that there are 16 people who have been brought to justice.

In the month of August alone, a dozen massacres have been committed in various regions of the country, leaving 58 dead. The departments referred to by Barbosa have been the most affected, as various armed organizations dispute the income from drug trafficking and illicit crops left behind by the FARC after its disarmament.

In the case of Nariño, there are at least a dozen organized armed groups in dispute, including some factions of the dissidents of the extinct FARC – such as ‘Los Contadores’ -, the National Liberation Army (THE N), and several paramilitary organizations, such as the ‘Gulf Clan‘.

The attorney general has also affirmed that with this arrest, the authorities have dealt a “strong” blow to this “criminal structure” that has its area of action in various areas of the Pacific of Nariño, and “are responsible for criminal acts against the public force, blowing up oil pipelines and power towers, activation of explosive devices and homicides ”.

This arrest is in addition to the one announced on Wednesday by the Prosecutor’s Office in relation to the multiple murder of five people during an attack on August 21 in a village in Arauca, in the east of the country., and in which a split from the FARC was also blamed.
