Judicial authorities sent the religious Gerardo Rojas Ríos, priest appointed by the alleged sexual abuse of two minors aged 13 and 16, in events that occurred between the years 2012 and 2018 in a church in the Chapinero sector, in Bogota.
The capture of a cleric was carried out by members of the Sijín of the Police specialized in sexual crimes.
According to the testimony of the minors, contributed to the investigation, “the little father gained the trust of my mother who attended church, and because it helped us with some markets due to the poverty in which we lived, “said one of the respondents.
The investigation indicated that the priest Rojas, after having met the girls’ mother, He proposed that I let them work for a few days cleaning the church and the rectory, a proposal to which the woman agreed to believe absolutely in the religious for his “heavenly” benefits and the figure of respect that he signified.

The 13- and 16-year-old girls worked for several years with the priest, but, the parents never suspected that the priest subjected them to repeated sexual abuseIn addition to the fact that every time he asked them to do the cleaning, he gave them the corresponding payment.
According to the authorities, the detainee quickly gained confidence with the minors and began to touch them improperly. The priest used the church and the rectory to take advantage of the girls, who kept the abuse silent for several years, fearing that their family would lose the help they were given.
However, the victims finally decided to tell their families about the abuse and reported it to the Prosecutor’s Office.
The priest was sent to jail and his sentence could be close to 24 years in prison, no reduction of sentence due to the fact that their victims are minors.
