“On Friday, November 27, I met a friend to give her some money. I couldn’t delay because my husband was waiting for me. But everything went wrong ”, these are the heartfelt words of a young woman who was the victim of sexual abuse.
She took a taxi at 9:30 in the morning on the South Highway, very close to the Venice Portal, from the town of Kennedy, in the south of Bogotá. “I remember I told the driver to take Boyacá Avenue, but he took a different turn and I don’t remember anything else there. “
On Saturday, November 28, this woman woke up in a room in the Western clinic. “Doctors told me that they had given me a rare poison and ruled that I had been sexually abused.”

The most serious thing is that the quadrant of the police in the sector told the family that they had already dealt with cases of three women who suffered the same assault and, apparently, by the same taxi driver. “I am very bad, but I have to report because it can happen to more women. I think there is a lot of incompetence with this type of case. This has me devastated ”.
Kennedy Police Commander Colonel William Arias said that in this case immediately activated the route of attention to cases of violence against women and that at this time the traceability process is being carried out to find out how the events occurred. It is also determined whether only the driver of the transport vehicle or more people were involved in the assault. “We promise to follow up on this complaint and identify the alleged abuser,” said the officer.
For now, this woman wants to disconnect from everything. Physical and psychological damage will take time to heal.
But it is not the first time that a woman has been the victim of these outrages on public transport. Last February, EL TIEMPO reviewed the case of a 28-year-old woman who, after hanging out with some friends in the north of Bogotá, took a taxi. She said that on the way she fell asleep and that the driver took advantage of her condition to sexually abuse her, a police statement reported at the time.

“The taxi driver, apart from the abuse, also took advantage of the young woman’s vulnerability to steal various belongings and leave her abandoned near her home”. After that complaint, the authorities began the search for the driver, who tried to hide in the city. Investigators managed to locate his whereabouts and capture him.
This newspaper also registered a complaint from an executive who got into a taxi on Calle 46 with Carrera 13, heading to Calle 26 with Avenida 68, without suspecting that whoever was driving the vehicle would end up assaulting her. “From one moment to another, more or less on the Corferias side, I noticed that he was looking at me a lot through the mirrors. Then, he says, the man turned around, locked the doors, lowered his pants fly and began to masturbate. “He started saying foul and vulgar words to me. There began minutes of suffering, “he described.
The victim said that in the midst of her anguish and despair she hit her with her bag on the head and also hit the glass until it almost broke it, as the aggressor tried to touch her crotch. “That was the only way I could get him to agree to open the doors for me. But before he said, ‘Bitch, pay me for the race.’ She, with fear, took out 2,000 pesos that she had and threw the bill in his face. Then, with his ankles swollen, because he had been suffering from a medical problem, he wanted to file the complaint, but it was never accepted, arguing that the abuse did not occur.
What do the Police recommend when boarding a taxi?
There are many actions that a person can take to avoid being a victim:
-Avoid taking cars that do not have the license plate number on the windows as well as the identification card.
-Use the telephone service to take a taxi, this will avoid occupying a vehicle that has been prepared for you to board. Always take the data of the person who attends you.
-When taking a taxi, take the back seat; inspect it and do not occupy it if you notice that there are other people in addition to the driver.
-When getting on, tell someone you trust your location and inform them out loud how you are.
