According to the ANLA statement, there are several technical considerations that ordered the filing of the Soto Norte mining project in Santander.

1. The definition of the area of influence

2. Technical aspects of the tailings deposit (mining activity residues).

3. Considerations on geotechnics, hydrology and hydrogeology, the risk management plan and economic valuation.

With this decision, Minesa must resubmit said study.

This was what the Authority said in the statement.

According to the statement, “the decision issued by ANLA was based on technical arguments, which were the result of the evaluation of the Environmental Impact Study and the responses issued by the company to the requirements made by the Environmental Authority.”

Given this, by means of Order No. 09674 of October 2, 2020, “it ordered the filing of the administrative process for the evaluation of the environmental license presented by the Sociedad Minera de Santander SAS for the Soto Norte Auroargentiferous Minerals Underground Exploitation Project, a decision that is in the process of notification to the company and recognized third parties and against which a motion for reconsideration proceeds ”.

They also add that during the evaluation process of the Soto Norte mining project, the Environmental Authority requested additional information from Sociedad Minera de Santander SAS, which, once presented by the company, was analyzed by ANLA’s technical team.
