Two women were nearly swallowed by a humpback whale while kayaking off the coast of Avila Beach, in San Luis Obispo County, California. During the experience, the women were recording with their cell phones, when they saw a large number of fish that rioted in the water, immediately afterwards they saw the great mouth of the whale.

Elizabeth Newman Cottriel, one of the survivors, told Follow The W that she is not a great lover of the sea, but she was in that kayak after being convinced by her friend Julie McSorley, the other woman swallowed by the whale.

Newman explained that they were watching the cetaceans from afar but did not realize that, Beneath a school of fish they were on, there was a whale.

McSorley added that they did not realize they were inside a whale until they were shown the videos. “I thought it had been a wave, the first thing I thought was that I had to go out for air and look for my friend”, He commented.
