ORna married war between two criminal gangs has stained the Bucaramanga metropolitan area with blood. The band ‘Los del Norte’ or ‘Los de San Rafael’ led by Alias ’Pichi’, faces off against ‘Los del Sur’, whose leader is alias ‘Poporro’.
Both criminal groups are fighting to the death over the control of drug trafficking areas. A hunt that already leaves several dead and injured, the last cases occurred in Campohermoso in Bucaramanga and Cañaveral in Floridablanca on Friday afternoon and night.
The attacks left two injured and one dead respectively.
Sicariato in Cañaveral
At 9:00 pm on Friday night the exclusive and crowded sector of Cañaveral was shaken by the ruthless attack on Erney Muñoz Fuentes, 37.
The man, known by the alias of ‘Muelas’, fled from ‘death’ on a Yamaha Bws and MMQ-01F plate. From blocks behind they saw him accelerate in anguish while other subjects, also on a motorcycle, chased him.
Dinner was damaged to those who were chatting at a well-known restaurant on 32nd Street with 26th Street, because in an effort to protect himself Muñoz left the motorcycle and entered running; But the hitman did not care and he attacked with a bullet inside the premises, the first shot did not hit him and the victim ran to the kitchen, but he reached there and shot him 5 times.
The report indicates that he was shot in the head, three in the back and one more in the right arm. He died immediately as the attackers vanished, leaving behind the bloody scene and dozens of stunned witnesses.
Muñoz Fuentes, alias ‘Muelas’, according to unofficial information, had an arrest warrant against him for the crimes of aggravated homicide and illegal possession of firearms. He would be responsible for the murder of Yurani Patricia Campos Tarazona and Fabián Andrés Bravo Ruiz, murdered on the afternoon of February 2 of this year at the traffic lights of Zapamanga in Floridablanca.
The couple was traveling along the Transversal Oriental in a truck and in the company of a 12-year-old girl, who was slightly injured. In the vehicle they found a bag with marijuana, and in the family residence, in Bucarica, more ‘weed’ and cocaine.
Apparently to evade this arrest warrant, ‘Muelas’ always carried a false identification that was found at the time of the inspection of the body.
Erney would be linked to the criminal organization alias ‘Pichi’ and would be close to the two injured subjects on Friday afternoon in the Campo Hermoso sector.
The wounded are hitmen
At 3:00 on Friday afternoon, in a store on Calle 45 with Carrera 11 Occidente in the Campohermoso neighborhood in Bucaramanga, José Luis Flórez Rodríguez, alias ‘Barbas’, 27, a native of Bucaramanga, was attacked with a bullet. Giorgio Alejandro Gordones Mercado, alias ‘Giorgio’, a 26-year-old Venezuelan. Alias ’Kakaroto’ and alias ‘Chorcho’ who are part of the criminal structure ‘Los del Sur’, would be responsible for this attack.
Vanguardia learned that both wounded are part of the hitman component of the band ‘Los de San Rafael’, and had a criminal record.
Flórez Rodríguez, would be one of the hitmen of ‘Pichi’ and presents a total of 12 processes as a defendant: 4 for the escape of prisoners, 2 for personal injuries, 5 for theft, and one for illegally carrying firearms. He currently has a home insurance measure.
Meanwhile, Gordones Mercado, who would be the chief of hitmen, is indicted in two judicial processes, one for carrying and trafficking of drugs and the other for murder; It would be the murder of Marlon Yesid Rúgeles Martínez, 27, and Yeison Fabián Callejas Flórez, 24, which occurred on the morning of April 4 in the upper part of the Altos de Transición neighborhood, in the North of Bucaramanga.
Origin of the conflict
With the recapture of Óscar Camargo Ríos, alias ‘Pichi’, in September 2018, alias ‘Poporro’, who would be part of his organization tried to take the reins of the organization that controls the sale of drugs in much of the North of Bucaramanga .
However, this would have generated a rupture within the band and ‘Poporro’ created his own group to which several members of ‘Los de San Rafael’ went. Thus was born, ‘Los del Sur’, which took over micro-trafficking in that area of Bucaramanga. But the North is the most coveted sector and they started the war to the death. Also in the dispute is another band known as ‘Los de Villa Rosa’.
The homicides and personal injuries in recent months in the North would be related to this conflict, but it intensified with the murder of alias ‘La Máscara’, found on November 17 in a wooded area of Villa Rosa, this subject would be part of ‘Los del Sur’, and whose murder led to the death of another man found in the tank sector, in that same neighborhood on October 26, who would be part of the ‘Pichi’ group.
Alias ’Poporro’, was part of the band ‘Los de San Rafael’, not being able to take control he decided to form his own criminal group that he called ‘Los del Sur’. From there, the war between the two groups began.
What about alias ‘Pichi’?
Óscar Camargo Ríos, alias ‘Pichi’, had been in La Picota Prison since October 2018. However, in July of this year a judge granted him a house for a prison and he is enjoying this benefit in the city of Bogotá.
In September 2019, the Third Criminal Judge of the Specialized Circuit of Bucaramanga, endorsed part of the request for annulment of the process made by the Prosecutor’s Office and withdrew the investigation against him for trafficking, manufacture or possession of drugs; however, it maintained the process for conspiracy to commit a crime.
On July 26 of that year, the Second Criminal Court of the Specialized Circuit of Bucaramanga acquitted him for the crimes of aggravated possession of narcotics, conspiracy to commit a crime for drug trafficking and illicit destination of real estate, the second proceeding against him.
That way, he was only still behind bars for escaping prisoners. This act was committed when in December 2015, during his first stay in prison, he escaped by jumping from a second floor of a clinic in Cañaveral, while he was being guarded by Inpec.
The defense of ‘Pichi’ by this process decided to make a preliminary agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office, which consisted of a 32-month sentence. A judge upheld it on June 27, 2019.
