Senators Roy Barreras and Gustavo Petro shared a video denouncing that there were “paramilitaries with long-range weapons operating in Manuela Beltrán in Cali.”
(Can read: Why hasn’t Iván Duque spoken to Joe Biden yet?)
“Urgent question to @mindefensa @AlcaldiaDeCali @JorgeIvanOspina @PGN_COL, these paramilitaries with long-range weapons are operating in Manuela Beltrán in Cali? If not, where? Is paramilitarism official in the capital cities?” The senator trilled Barriers.
In the video, alleged armed civilians are seen in a Police CAI in eastern Cali.
In a second trill he wrote: “@mindefensa: This is what you call“ fifth generation wars ”against unarmed civilians? What does this have to do with the “decree for the prevention of terrorism” that the government is preparing? Are they not doing the same as Maduro with his “armed groups”? “
And an hour later he continued: “Now they give me two different” versions “. Police sources tell local journalists that” the guns are paintball “(???) and other communicators who are recording a TV series” (?? ?). Confusing versions. For what? To intimidate? To threaten? For … militarism? “.

According to the portal specialized in verifying news, Colombiacheck, it is not about paramilitaries, but about the recording of the short film ‘Entre Rimas y Plomo’, by Manuela Urbana, a collective of artists from Comuna 14 in Cali.
The short film is directed by Christian Sandoval, according to the description of one of the videos on the artist collective’s Facebook page. This portal found images that match and the video that Barreras shared “appears to be behind the scenes, with the trailer circulating on networks,” says Colombiacheck.

After that, the Undersecretary of Security of Cali, Guillermo Londoño Ricaurte, published a trill clarifying that it is not about the presence of paramilitaries in the city.
“Dear Senator, it is not about any type of paramilitarism in Cali. I invite you to rectify your message and verify sources before generating panic among citizens. In the video you cite, you see actors with props from the short ‘Entre rimas y plomos’. Thank you, “he wrote.
Although the senator from Colombia Humana erased the trill, Londoño also responded: “Dear Senator @petrogustavo, where you see paramilitaries, there really is a group of people who are recording a short film called ‘Entre rimas y plomos’, where they use firearms. Props. Senator please rectify to avoid generating unfounded panic. Thank you “
Dear senator @petrogustavoWhere you see paramilitaries, there is actually a group of people who are recording a short film called “Between rhymes and leads”, where they use prop weapons. Senator rectify to avoid generating unfounded panic. Thanks https://t.co/xoO1hXlFgd

Despite knowing what the images in the video were about, Barreras trilled again: “I don’t see the same images, however @Colcheck also refers to that video. I go further: If the images are from a short film that” sets “paramilitarism urban, I ask: Who finances it? For what purpose? Is it an audiovisual facade to “explain” real operations? “.
And followed: “I keep my question about these images that apologize for urban paramilitarism because there is urban paramilitarism! The children of Llano Verde are dead and they are not actors. And “private surveillance” groups participated in his death with complicities not yet clarified! “, He sentenced.
