The transfer of electrical networks for the construction of the Bogotá Metro advances

While the consortium in charge of the construction of the Metro completes the studies and the preliminary phase at the beginning of the works, the public services companies continue with the transfer of networks in the areas where the first line of the transport system will pass.

In this work, Codensa advances with the transfer in seven points in the west of the city, where in addition to the construction of new structures, the installation of poles, high-rise towers and new networks for the operation of transmission lines is carried out. fundamental to guarantee that they will not interfere with the passage of the Metro.

As reported by the energy company, in the Gibraltar Park, intersection 74F between streets 41 south and 40 south, Primero de Mayo avenue with 68 avenue, 67 street with Caracas avenue, 8th avenue south with 30th avenue and 6th street with Caracas avenue, they work 40 officials, including engineers, technicians and operators with heavy machinery.

The transfer of the high voltage lines has already been completed in other points of the Metro corridor, such as Caracas Avenue with Sixth Street, where 27-meter poles were moved and replaced by new 50-meter ones, while similar works are being carried out on the intersection of Carrera 30, between Calle 15 and Avenida Octava sur.

The works are being carried out at night to avoid a greater impact on mobility. “These are works that open the way and prepare the electricity distribution infrastructure for the First Metro Line in the country’s Capital. They are civil works, assembly and laying of networks, which are carried out in a sequential and orderly manner, to minimize the impact on mobility and safety of people in the areas of incidence “, said the general manager of Enel-Codensa, Francesco Bertoli.

There are at least 24 kilometers of public service networks, including sewerage, energy, natural gas, telephony, among others, which must be moved to make way for the first metro line, which make up 28 hydrosanitary pipes; responsibility of the Aqueduct Company of Bogotá; 43 telephone networks and traffic lights of the ETB; gas pipelines in the hands of Vanti, and 34 pipelines of fiber optic networks of Telefónica.

In this regard, the manager of the Metro Company, Andrés Escobar assured that “the anticipated transfer of networks is carried out to avoid that, as has happened in large infrastructure projects in the past, at the time of undertaking the works, the concessionaire is with interference from cables or pipes, causing delays and cost overruns. According to the inventory made by the Bogotá Metro Company, in the case of Enel-Codensa it is necessary to move seven pipelines and electrical towers ”.
