Organized by the national government to reactivate the economy, this November 21 starts the last day of Day without VAT, sales activation event for consumers to purchase products at competitive prices.

For this day, the merchants have designed an agenda of events that seek to make up for lost time in terms of sales. This Saturday there will be “Early risers”, “Nightmares”, marathons “Awake cities”, in addition to the sales for products without VAT, attractive for consumers who intend to advance Christmas shopping in an uncertain scenario, such as the post-pandemic.

In addition to the above, the electronic stage, with up-to-date platforms in terms of security measures and package logistics, you will have a great opportunity to demonstrate that online commerce, in a country with 60% internet penetration and the most expensive minute per gig in the continent, after Mexico, give back to merchants in profit.

PayU, a strategic ally for this day, reiterates the optimism regarding the sustained growth of purchases through platforms and mobile devices.

According to this agent, Colombia went from a 282% increase in the first day, to 471% in the second. Transactions made through e-tickets and platforms that, after learning to better manage their information systems, are ready to receive buyers from midnight on November 21.

For Fenalco, the global sales expectation (i.e. through electronic channels and in-store presence) should reach a 20% above the previous days. in relation to the two previous days without VAT. For certain sectors, such as household appliances, computers and cell phones, the figures are around a 45% and 70% in sales, which are the favorites of Colombians, especially with a view to bringing forward purchases at the end of the year.

Regarding the presence of stores, Fenalco report that 90,000 of its affiliates are prepared for the demand of ordinary consumers who still go to these types of spaces to make their purchases.

The challenge will be to avoid crowds so as not to influence the increase in the number of coronavirus infections, an experience acquired by the first day of the Day without VAT in which the wholesale shops were admonished by the authorities for not giving their part in the preventive management of the pandemic.

Factors such as the advance of the Christmas bonus for public sector employees, the payment to the payroll that the national government extended for SMEs and companies, in addition to the massification of purchases through credit or debit cards, make this last day the closest thing to a year-end experience.
