The scheduled closures prior to the opening of the La Línea Tunnel

The National Institute of Vïas announced, through a statement that, within the framework of the commissioning and inauguration acts of the work known as the Tunnel of the Line, the national authorities, through resolution 1975 of 2020, have established the temporary closure of the road that connects the municipalities of Calarcá (Quindío) and Cajamarca (Tolima).

The scheduled closure will operate in the section between kilometer 4 + 900 and 46 + 500 of this important road corridor starting at 10:00 pm on Thursday, September 3 and will run until Friday, September 4 at 5:00 pm

In the same way, the road authorities have arranged as an alternative route, to avoid vehicular damming, the use of the corridor Ibagué, Mariquita, Fresno, Alto de Letras, Manizales, Pereira, Armenia.

This period of time will be used by Invías officials to carry out the work of new signaling of the road, in compliance with road safety measures, remembering that, with the inauguration, after 11 years of works, of the tunnel project the line, the current road will lose its bidirectional character and will start to operate only in the sense Armenia – Ibagué.

The resolution issued by the National Government establishes that the Tolima and Quindío road authorities must “take the necessary preventive measures to avoid risks to road users.”

The work of the Line Tunnel will be officially inaugurated on Friday, by the main authorities of the country.

It is estimated that this road complex will reduce travel times on one of the most important calls in the country, considered vital for the transit of goods from the port of Buenaventura to the center of the country.
