The rumba is over in Cali: bars would close for not being able to sell liquor

The rumba pilot in Cali, outdoors and with “agua’e lulo”, would not have been profitable for the owners of the participating bars.

This weekend the rumba returned in Cali, with a pilot from several open-air bars. The establishments, in exchange for liquor, sold non-alcoholic cocktails, which earned them the popular name of “agua’e lulo.” Even so, the outdoor rumba pilot in the capital of the Valley would not have given the expected results.

Cali Undersecretary of Economic Development Tatiana Zambrano told Blu Radio that the rumba pilot in Cali had not had the expected success. Sales, unable to sell liquor, would not be giving enough to justify the pilot.

“We reviewed how we were for Sunday, which is softer in terms of influx. That is why it was decided to take this day for logistical issues of clearing, and a rest.”, Said Zambrano.

Despite this, the pilot on Bulevar del Río and Parque Alameda had positive effects on the economy of Cali. Participation in this pilot, which was well attended on Thursday, would have saved about 1,000 jobs.
