From its official Twitter account, the Royal Spanish Academy spoke to correct the president’s pronouncement at the funeral of Carlos Holmes Trujillo
Much commotion in networks caused a verbal error by President Iván Duque during his intervention in the funeral works of the former defense minister, Carlos Holmes Trujillo on January 27. On Twitter, the teasing was immediate and came in large proportions.
In fact, a user consulted the Royal Spanish Academy to delve into the possible verbal error to which the Colombian president could fall and said institution spoke from its official Twitter account with the following clarification:
#RAEconsults No. The past perfect simple indicative of the verb «want» is irregular: «wanted, wanted, wanted …». Therefore, the correct form of the first person singular is “wanted”, not * “wanted”: “I wanted it that way.” V. https://t.co/16uybIDUR8.
