Amid criticism, the peace commissioner, Miguel Ceballos, insisted on traveling to Cauca to meet with indigenous leaders despite the fact that the large representation of the indigenous communities of Cauca was in Bogotá in the Minga that seeks direct dialogue with the President Iván Duque.
Even though the meeting was scheduled since last October 5, Governor Hermenegildo Bechaní Bello, in agreement with the Senior Councilor, Hermes Pete, ran the appointment.
Ceballos’s trip to Totoró, which he announced with great fanfare, saying that he would arrive in Cauca to meet with different reservations belonging to the Minga, raised suspicions about a possible division of indigenous leaders, arguments that were overthrown by the mayor of Totoró, José Fernando Conejo, who confirmed that the meeting with the commissioner was rescheduled for next Friday at 10 in the morning when the Minga will already be back in Cauca.
