To mitigate the bottlenecks that affect the employability and economic development of the country in the short, medium and long terms, the Ministry of Labor makes known the results of identification and measurement of human capital gaps detected in the sectors tourism, fashion and pharmaceutical.

Some of the competencies that need to be strengthened in the sector are: project management, customer service, multilingual and multicultural skills, knowledge in computer solutions programming, management of automated systems and artificial intelligence, reuse of materials, in organizational strategies in accordance with green trends.

For some positions it was identified gaps in the use of a second language such as English, in cleaning processes, knowledge of the sectoral technical standard NTS 002 for handling cleaning products according to the requirements of the standard. Likewise, in customer service, analysis, assertive communication, creativity, relationships, autonomy, resilience and teamwork.

The tourism sector has been one of the hardest hit by the pandemic and requires the preparation of human talent that allows them to face new challenges in terms of skills that guarantee the biosecure return of activities and economic reactivation of the sector.

Fashion Sector

In this field, 74 interviews with companies and experts in the sector, educational and training institutions, headhunters and employment centers to analyze the labor demand and the educational and training offer related to the fashion sector, in two subsectors: footwear and leather goods and clothing.

Failures were detected in the management of modeling systems and software design, customer service and marketing; and in soft skills such as assertive communication, adaptability to changes, self-learning, leadership, creativity, relationship, punctuality, persuasion, handling objections, listening skills, attitude, customer service, empathy, respect, commitment and resilience.
Some profiles towards which the demand of this sector will be oriented are researcher and fabric developer, sustainability expert, 3D printing engineer, consumer psychologist and data scientist, among others.

It was concluded that there is a deficit of higher education programs aimed at meeting the specific needs of the footwear and leather goods subsector, especially in the city of Cúcuta. Much of the offer in this sector is concentrated in short complementary training courses.

The fashion sector, which initially includes these two activities, has been fundamental for the development of the Colombian productive fabric and has shown great resilience in the face of the challenges that the industry has brought with it. covid-19 pandemic.

Pharmaceutical sector

Some trends that will mobilize the labor prospects of the sector in the coming years will be Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, research and manufacture of injectable products (vaccines), supply chain management and its adaptation to virtuality and new consumer demands, preventive medicine and drug surveillance.

The profiles towards which the demand will be oriented They are national sales manager, director of research and development, head of assurance, head of quality assurance, chemical analyst, pharmaceutical chemists, laboratory analysts, validation analyst and quality supervisor, among others.
