In the recording, the official made reference to the STC7641 guardianship sentence of September 22, 2020 of the Civil Cassation Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, in which he was ordered the Ministry that leads to apologize to Colombians for the excesses of the Public Force during the protests of the National Strike.
However, in his speech, Trujillo pointed out that he was actually reiterating some statements he made a few days ago without anyone ordering it:
“The Ministry of National Defense allows itself to reiterate to the public opinion that on September 11, 2020, the Minister of Defense – in a spontaneous, sincere, transparent and respectful act, widely disseminated, – indicated that the National Police apologizes for any violation to the law or ignorance of the regulations incurred by any of the members of the institution ”.
However, some citizens were left wondering whether to speak of a statement prior to the sentence is to comply with the order of the Supreme Court of Justice and they were made known in the responses to its publication.
However, the last word will be held by the magistrates of the high court, who must evaluate the minister’s statement and determine if the court ruling was complied with in the 48 hours that he gave the deadline or if there was a contempt, as raised hours before in Congress, and that were fulfilled this Thursday at 4:00 in the afternoon.
In addition, it should be taken into account that the statement to which Trujillo refers on September 11 spoke of the death of Javier Ordóñez in which he requested forgiveness for the “violation of the law or ignorance of the regulations that any of the the members of the institution ”and what the Court is asking is that he refer to the excesses of the uniformed men during the protests at the end of 2019.
Meanwhile, in the video, Trujillo added that said “spontaneous expression of forgiveness refers to any violation of the law, at any time that any of the members of the institution have incurred, respecting the due process that assists each of the members of the Public Force ”.
The head of the Defense portfolio also said that it is up to the judicial and disciplinary authorities to determine the responsibilities in each individual case, such as that of Dilan Cruz, the main victim of the November 2019 protests to which the Court refers in the judgment.
Precisely because of the case of the 19-year-old student, the Court also ordered the suspension of the use of the 12-gauge shotgun, the weapon with which the victim was shot. In another of the orders, the magistrates also ordered the Ministry of Defense to disseminate the text of the sentence and the entity did so in the following trill:
In compliance with the STC7641 guardianship sentence of September 22, 2020, with filing number 11001-22-03-000-2019-02527-02, @mindefense publishes the complete and legible content of this pronouncement, as well as its vote saves https://t.co/kUwOGg5vef pic.twitter.com/CgD2QSW3vf

Finally, Trujillo indicated that the National Government will give “all its support” to the authorities in charge of the investigations for abuse of authority that are underway; although he did not refer to reforms the Esmad that the magistrates requested.
This is the video published by Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo, who in recent days was also criticized for arguing with Senator Gustavo Petro on Twitter as if he were already on the campaign trail:
