Before the end of 2020, it will be possible to travel along the Regional Avenue between Ancón and Mayorca without fear of falling into one of the 45 holes that EL COLOMBIANO recorded in the area. This was announced by the director of the Metropolitan Area, Juan David Palacio.
With this, Palacio argued, mobility in the south of the Aburrá Valley, today affected by the poor condition of the road, will significantly improve. The director of the territorial entity warned that the cost of the intervention, defined as an emergency “repatch”, will cost close to $ 569 million.
The mayor of La Estrella, Juan Sebastián Abad, a municipality that has jurisdiction over that part of the road, offered to provide labor so that the patching actions were duly carried out. For his part, his partner from Sabaneta, Santiago Montoya, was optimistic about the announcement and said he was willing to help as much as possible from his locality.
To learn more about the topic: More than 45 holes in just 4 kilometers of road on Regional Avenue:
“Last Friday we published the final specifications of the abbreviated selection. Our purpose is to make an intervention of the section that includes between the municipality of La Estrella and Sabaneta, and mainly at the height of Mayorca. There, the holes found in the section will be patched. Furthermore, a complete intervention will be carried out at the height of Mayorca ”, explained Palacio.
It should be remembered that this area has been in poor condition for more than two years. Due to an administrative and jurisdictional issue, local administrations, as this newspaper reported last September, were “throwing the ball” of responsibilities. That is, none of them wanted to take charge of the arrangements considering that this, being a national route, should be intervened by Invías.
But, in the end, the discussion was resolved and it will be the Metropolitan Area, the entity that built the road in 2000, which will fix the gaps that put the lives of drivers and cyclists at risk.
