Former minister Serpa told his son that it is good to see that truth begins to be known, referring to the assassination of Gómez Hurtado.

An unsolved crime

On the date the political leader was assassinated, Serpa was Ernesto Samper’s Minister of the Interior, whom they pointed out to know of an alleged plan to assassinate Gómez Hurtado ordered by cartel del Norte del Valle.

The conservative’s own family accepted this thesis and even when the FARC claimed responsibility for the murder, in a statement they indicated that for them Samper and Serpa remain “the main suspects of the assassination”.

The former president did his thing and crossed out the Gómez Hurtado family of wanting to seek a State crime to obtain a millionaire compensation from the Colombian State.

Faced with this accusation by Samper, the conservative’s relatives reiterated that, although economic reparation is a fundamental right, this has not been “The purpose that animates our cause (…) to insinuate otherwise, in a perverse way, is a revictimization that damages the memory of Álvaro Gómez and outrages those of us who have been fighting for 25 years so that their crime does not remain in impunity: that impunity that the true masterminds of the assassination search so much “.

To what the Farc said about the crime of Álvaro Gómez, a contradictory came out, the dissident and fugitive from justice ‘Jesús Santrich’ who pointed out through a statement that “It is not true that the execution of Álvaro Gómez Hurtado was ordered by Mono Jojoy”.

In the statement it also says that it is not true that alias Mono Jojoy, “He warned the former FARC Secretariat about the homicide once the murder was committed”, nor that “a few days later, Manuel Marulanda (maximum former head of the FARC) directed all of us to remain silent.”

For now, the case of the Gómez Hurtado assassination will be investigated by the JEP, however, the Reconnaissance Chamber of the Peace Court postponed the date of the proceedings contribution to the truth of Julián Galindo Cubillos alias Carlos Lozada, due to an appeal for reconsideration presented by the family of the conservative leader.
