Starting this Thursday and for three days, the Mayor’s Office of Cali advances the ‘Agüelulo por la Vida’, the pilot plan for the reactivation of the Caleña rumba in open spaces such as Parque Alameda and Bulevar del Río.
On its first day, this event was well received by the people of Cali who, according to the Mayor’s Office, fully reserved the tables available in both spaces until its end, around midnight.
The Secretary of Government, Jesús Darío González, gave a positive balance after the first day, highlighting the high acceptance that the initiative had among citizens, the good behavior of the attendees and the satisfactory results obtained by the participating establishments in both spaces.
“The productive activity could be sustained by the entrepreneurs, people took the agüellulo with an aesthetic and playful sense, as a game that allows us to recover that relationship with music and dance, and what we hope is that this pilot can give clues to everything that could be in the immediate future an opening with these open space meeting places. We are in institutional evaluation and with each of these places to take the measures of control of spaces, regulation and greater citizen orientation so that the process is learning, “said the Secretary.
However, both the official and the assistants themselves detected aspects to improve, such as avoiding the concentration of people -as it was seen near the platform in the Alameda Park and at the entrances to both spaces-; wear the mask correctly and constantly disinfect your hands; as well as respecting the delimited space for the enjoyment of each group of people.
“Internally, people generally had a positive behavior. In the management of the environments, adjustments have to be made in terms of biosecurity, there were people without masks, without social distancing, and dancing without the adequate differentiation protocol are aspects that we are going to correct, both with citizen education and with control of the surroundings, “said the Secretary.
With masks and showing their best steps, the Caleños were seen in the Alameda Park and the Bulevar del Río, spaces arranged by the Mayor’s Office of Cali to reactivate the rumba with all the biosecurity protocols.

Jesús Darío González also pointed out that the security and biosafety mechanisms should be reinforced in areas adjacent to the ‘Agüelulo por la Vida’ spaces, such as the Bulevar del Río sector where this activity is not carried out and is usually frequented by groups of young people, families and athletes.
In an interview with El País through Facebook Live on Thursday, the official pointed out that on Sunday the results of these pilots will be evaluated for the reactivation of the Caleña rumba, which, if it is a success and in accordance with the concept of the National Government They could also take place in the parks of El Ingenio, 72 W or Alameda Sol de Oriente.
“They are pilots that tell us that we have a possibility if we do it in an organized and responsible way with the lives of each of the Caleños and Caleñas. The invitation is that there are no crowds, that spaces are not opened that can generate disorder and chaos, fines, social sanctions or institutional sanctions, as long as we have patience, September is not the month of crazy hours and of running out to open any space, “he stressed.

This should be taken into account if you want to attend the ‘agüelulos’
The success of the pilots for the reactivation of the Caleña rumba that will take place from this Thursday in Cali depends on whether these activities are repeated the following weekends or that they are also carried out in other spaces of the capital of Valle del Cauca.
The Secretary of the Government recalled that those interested in attending must contact one of the participating establishments to make a reservation, for which they will be assigned a delimited place in which they can only be shared with people – six at most – with whom go. Interaction with other attendees is not allowed and constant use of a mask is mandatory.
“The space has hygiene and screening environments, but it is good that people bring their alcohol and their care device. It is also important that they arrive on time,” he said and recalled that attendees can be in the ‘agüelulo’ for three hours only.
