A month after the song began to spread, Miguel Durán Jr, the third of Miguel Durán’s 9 children, known as ‘El Pollo Caucano’, suffered firsthand the effects of the contagion. He spent 38 days in the intensive care unit at a clinic in Sincelejo.

His condition became so serious that on July 24 it was rumored that he had died, news that was denied by his family. Days later it was announced that the accordion player and singer was in the recovery phase. However, it was a bacterium, which his relatives suppose that he acquired in the clinic where he had been transferred to recover, which finally ended his life at dawn on September 3.
