The investigating magistrates of the Court who have cornered the congressmen

In two years since the Investigation Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice was created, two congressmen have been arrested and one more accused with harsh investigations. The first was former senator Álvaro Uribe, who was followed by a trial by Magistrate César Reyes for alleged manipulation of witnesses who are now in the Prosecutor’s Office. Now Eduardo Pulgar, a former congressman from La U, was arrested for influence peddling and León Fredy Muñoz de los Verdes accused of drug trafficking.

The magistrates behind the investigations are six: César Reyes; Marco Antonio Rueda, who collected the evidence in the Pulgar case; Héctor Alarcón; Javier Farfán; Misael Rodríguez, who was a speaker on the Muñoz case, and Cristina Lombana, who had to withdraw from the investigation of Uribe because he was a major in the Army during the former president’s government.

The Chamber of Instruction was created as soon as the second instance was approved to judge congressmen. This will investigate and accuse the crimes committed by senators and representatives to the Chamber. The way for Pulgar and Muñoz is to appeal to the Criminal Cassation Chamber of the Supreme Court.
