The indigenous minga will travel to Bogotá, they will leave this Wednesday from Cali

The indigenous minga will leave on Wednesday afternoon in a caravan to Bogotá to meet with President Iván Duque, after two meetings with the delegation of the National Government in Cali.

This was announced by Hermes Pete, senior advisor of the Indigenous Regional Council of Cauca, Cric, at a press conference.

He also assured that there will be no blockades on the Pan-American Highway during this new mobilization “to send a message to the President (Duque). We will continue to demonstrate peacefully.”

He said that in the afternoon they will travel from the El Pueblo Coliseum to the CAM, in the center of Cali, and later they will begin their trip to the capital of the country, by determination of the indigenous authorities.

The negotiating table, led by Minister Alicia Arango, rose at around 3:00 pm this Tuesday, after there was no concrete response regarding a meeting with President Iván Duque.

“We ask them for the date and time of the meeting with him (president) and they respond that they do not understand what the debate is,” explained the leader.

In turn, the official said that “the National Government respects peaceful protest, remains open to dialogue and continues to be present in the indigenous minga, but it is clear that this is not reinvindicative but rather is political, as its members have expressed.”
