“It is a good message for the country, for him and his family,” argued Molano.

The judicial process, now, will continue with the former president released but the decision can be appealed, a fact that will be done by Senator Iván Cepeda, as announced minutes later.

When Uribe’s arrest occurred, Molano Aponte was also one of the first to show his solidarity with him.

Molano – using the labels “homeland pain” and “defense in freedom” – alleged that while the guerrilla Jesús Santrich is free and committing crimes, Uribe “is deprived of his liberty.

On that occasion, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Diego Mesa also expressed solidarity with Uribe and declared himself a witness “Of his honor and probity both in his public and private actions.”

Uribe, for his part, has always declared his innocence. He himself wrote in this process: “Today I was reviewed as prisoner # 1087985 for confronting testimonies against me bought by the Farc, his new generation and his allies. No evidence, just inferences. I was illegally intercepted. Lawyers were prevented from cross-examining his main witness. I ask for transparency. “
