The first direct flight between Bucaramanga and the United States landed in Florida

Around 6:35 in the afternoon, Spirit Flight 861 successfully landed, covering the route between Bucaramanga and Fort Lauderdale for the first time. The plane had taken off from Palonegro International Airport around 3:11 pm and lasted approximately three hours and 24 minutes.

After 2:00 pm. This Wednesday, the first direct flight between La Florida and Lebrija touched the Palonegro runway. The aircraft departed from American territory at 10:45 am on the same day.

On the inaugural flight, the governor of Santander, Mauricio Aguilar, the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Juan Camilo Beltrán, and the mayor of the city, Juan Carlos Cárdenas, arrived.

In an Airbus A320 aircraft, with capacity for 180 passengers, the delegation arrived on the first Spirit flight that will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between the two cities.

In this regard, the governor of Santander, Mauricio Aguilar, stated that “with this new route we will be able to consolidate the path of internationalization of our department, it will allow travelers to reach our territory in an easier and faster way.”

Aguilar Hurtado highlighted that with this direct connection to Bucaramanga “tourists will be able to enjoy the second most biodiverse department in Colombia, the fourth largest economy in the country and the great natural resources that make it a world-class destination.”
