This Monday Santiago García Zamora, the man who left a party with her on a motorcycle heading to another meeting, accepted that he murdered her and then threw her into the waters of the Cauca River, where she was found on June 15, at the height of La Pintada.

The 33-year-old murderer confessed that Daniela did not want to accede to his sexual pretensions. “Apparently, the defendant tried to sexually abuse the young woman. The woman’s refusal, in the face of García Zamora’s demands, caused him to attack her by taking her life, ”the Prosecutor’s Office reported in a statement.

Judicial sources had reported since June that García was the last person to see Daniela dead and that she had scratches and other suspicious marks on her body and face.

The newspaper La Patria de Manizales, which accompanied Monday’s hearing, which was presided over by a criminal judge of the Riosucio, Caldas circuit, confirmed that the sentence in this case will be issued for the crime of aggravated femicide.

At the first hearing, García had said that he had gone out with Daniela on his motorcycle, that they had fallen and that she had been upset with him and attacked him. Investigators took him to the site where the traffic incident allegedly occurred, but there was no sign of anything.

His clothes were also intact. He then said that he had thrown Daniela into the waters of the river after a struggle, although he was not clear on the reasons for the alleged discussion.

Daniela Quiñones was a student in the eighth semester of Administration at Eafit University and according to her relatives she was on the verge of starting her professional internship.
