One of the most important infrastructure projects in the country will put an end to its construction phase this week, and it will pass to your operation stage after 11 years of works: the tunnel of the Line.

The work contemplates a 8.65-kilometer-long main tunnel, and a complex of adjacent works that complement it.

The tunnel is located in the section that communicates to the municipalities of Cajamarca, Tolima and Calarcá, Quindío, and it is considered “the heart of the country”.
Although it is a project that lasted more than 100 years on paper, and the delays generated an additional cost close to double that originally projected, this project, built to 2,450 meters above sea level, finally see the light.
According German Pardo, President of the Colombian Engineering Society, the challenge now is to equip the road with all the safety features, remembering that this will also seek to reduce 90% of the accident rate in the sector.
