“The club had to demonstrate about Teo as when I filed the guardianship”

The mystery is over. Julio Avelino Comesaña explained the reason that precipitated his departure from Junior’s technical direction.

After confirming on Tuesday night, in a talk with EL HERALDO, that this time he definitely closed his history as a rojiblanco coach after nine episodes, Comesaña, on Wednesday morning, in dialogue with the journalist Carlos Antonio Vélez, from Antena 2 , acknowledged that he was upset and advanced his departure, which had been agreed for December, porque expected the club to issue a statement moving away and condemning the threatening and insulting words of Teófilo Gutiérrez, through a ‘live’ on Instagram, as well as publicly distancing himself from the tutelage that he filed at the end of last May against the National Government for the measure that he kept in mandatory quarantine to those over 70 in the midst of the pandemic.

Comesaña, 72, explained that He was not leaving because of Teo’s fact, but because of Junior’s permissiveness in situations of this type. He said that he does not understand how they did separate themselves from their guardianship action and not from a reprehensible act like Teo’s.

“I went to a meeting that I asked President ‘Toño’ Char, his father Fuad Char was also there, to discuss things before going to Ecuador. Some time ago I told them that in December I stopped being Junior’s coach, that my history in the team ended, so that they were thinking what was going to happen, what they were going to do, that it didn’t bother me that another coach started to sound or anything. At the same time other themes were touched upon. I was a little worried about what happened after the game against América, because as a man who is in charge of the squad, what happened with Teófilo, which I talked to him about, something that was unpleasant, he knows why he apologized; it shouldn’t happen. I thought that the institution should manifest in that sense by the message outwards, if not, we had to put up a sign that says: anything goes here. As it happened when I filed the guardianship ”, Comesaña said.

“I did not ask the club for permission for that,” Comesaña continued, “nor did I ask for the favor, which I could have done, I understood that it was a personal situation and I did it on a personal basis using a tool I had. The institution did what I think it should do and that’s fine, it stood out and said: we have nothing to do with this, it is a personal matter of Comesaña with which we do not agree, period. That is the institution, They are not the people who speak, the institution speaks and marks the path, makes a presence. In this case (Teo’s) it seems to me that the same had to be done because it is a case that damages the image of the team and of everyone, but it is not true that I have asked that Teófilo be fired, that he be fined, that he be punished . I would call him, have a coffee with him and explain the significance of that when someone like him, with what he represents for the club, says it. Simply to express to the friend: look, you were wrong, don’t do this because it hurts us all and nothing else ”.

The Colombian-Uruguayan helmsman considers that “Junior is permissive” with these kinds of situations and should set precedents that inspire respect for the institution.

“That people say: in Junior these things do not. We talk about that as we always talk about it, calm down, a ‘calzón quitao’, there were no problems or anything. And it seemed to me that I no longer have any reason to be at the forefront of the team, ”said Comesaña.

The way of handling the Junior has always been familiar, of not saying anything, not to be drastic, not to punish, not to punish. Always. When you work with people who have a little education and put yourself in the place of others, you try to understand where you are and what you get, things work, but sometimes when there is a snorting from someone or it comes out of the clothes because he believes that it is the maximum or something, you have to tell him, you have to call him: come ‘mijo’, without scandals and without anything. It is not about throwing or fining, those things no longer work so much. Junior in that sense is permissive ”, Comesaña declared.
