The former Superintendent of Industry and Commerce Pablo Felipe Robledo and his law firm held an online event last week in which the discussion on the guide for influencers, issued by the SIC for consumer protection was promoted.

In the invitation to the discussion The image of the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce appeared at the bottom and the former official’s law office.
That fact generated annoyance in the Superintendency who wrote an official email to Robledo warning that “without any type of authorization” the logo of that entity was being used.
The message, signed by the General Secretary of the SIC, states that the event “is private and does not have any kind of sponsorship or support from the entity” and therefore they ask the former superintendent to remove the logo from his invitation to the event and refrain from using it in the future.
This was the first invitation published with the logo of the Robledo law firm and that of the SIC.
The use of the mark of the Superintendency It was a surprise if one takes into account that Robledo spent almost six years in that dependency and knows the rules for the use of the brands and logos of public and private firms.
Sources from the Superintendency indicated that against Robledo no investigation was opened by verifying that he had complied with the removal of the logo from his event, so no additional process was opened.

EL TIEMPO spoke with Robledo, who assured that the reason why he put the logo of the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce in the first invitation that was published about the event is because he had invited that entity and they had confirmed their attendance.
Robledo assures that he sent the SIC a formal letter from his law office inviting them to the event to participate in the panel through the Deputy Superintendent of Consumer Protection, María Carolina Corcione.
According to Robledo, through WhatsApp and by phone, both Superintendent Andrés Barreto and his delegate confirmed the participation of the SIC in the event.
“That is why we took a post where I said that Robledo Abogados was organizing, and the Superintendency of Industry participated,” explained Robledo. According to the former official, when he took out the advertisement with the SIC logo, supposedly “in Palacio de Nariño they were upset by the participation of the Superintendency in an event organized by someone who is considered to be an opponent of the Government.” and for that, says Robledo, “they gave the order to Barreto not to participate,” and they canceled his attendance at the event.
Thus, Robledo points out, after they told him that they would not attend the event, he removed the SIC logo from the invitation.

The former superintendent assures that when the SIC canceled its participation, he removed the logo of the Superintendency from the invitation.
Given what Robledo said, sources from the Superintendency rejected that version and state that it is not true that the institution has confirmed the participation of any of its officials In the event of the former official, there was never any talk of it being a joint event.
Thus, the sources say, “the policy of the SIC is that events with law firms cannot be held since they have clients who may have a process in the same Superindustry”, for which they affirm that their participation only occurs meetings organized by universities.
They insisted that the participation of the SIC in the event was not even considered for the aforementioned reason, so no confirmation in that regard was possible.
Thus, the sources of the SIC indicate that the reason that the institution did not join in this event is because taking part in meetings promoted by lawyers is “incompatible with the internal affairs of this institution.”
