In case of Silvano Oblitas Cántaro Toletino, the 19-year-old Peruvian who was thrown from a bridge and whose body was found in the Cauca department, southwestern Colombia, generates repudiation and consternation.
The boy worked tirelessly and saved about 5 million Colombian pesos. Money with which he traveled to Medellín, in the company of an alleged friend named Andrés, to buy clothes and then return to his homeland with the aim of starting his own business.
However, the story had a tragic outcome: the 19-year-old was scammed, lost his capital and was thrown from a bridge in Colombia.
According to the newspaper Correo de Peru, Silvano Cántaro spoke for the last time with his sister Yaneth on February 10. That day, the boy wrote desperately on WhatsApp to ask him to borrow money:
Hello, Yaneth. I’m getting complicated here. Look, do your best tomorrow. If you don’t want to work with me as normal, this merchandise will only be mine; lend me 1,500 (soles) and then I’ll give you back 2,000”.
“I am wasting time here and if you want to work with me normally, we divide the profit and we buy both of them again. This is all of the merchandise, ”added Silvano Cántaro.
The young man also sent his sister a photograph of the Plaza de la Libertad building, located in La Alpujarra, downtown Medellín.
After reading the message, Yaneth Cántaro asked him: “Don’t you have someone you know?”
To which Silvano replied pleading:
“Now, Yaneth. As I do, I’m docked here I have no one, otherwise I would not tell you anything. Please do your best, Yaneth, don’t let me fall. I’m going to go down with everything”.
After this conversation, Silvano’s family did not know more about him, until a few hours ago, when the Colombian authorities notified them of the discovery of skeletal remains that match Silvano’s characteristics.
According to information provided to www.noticiascaracol.com, the young man’s family traveled to Popayán to identify the body.
