The First Administrative Court of Sogamoso, Boyacá, decreed the precautionary measure of risk prevention requested by the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation, to protect the hydrographic account of Laguna de Tota.

For the control entity, it is essential to verify compliance with the protocols and technical requirements, before continuing with the construction of the hotel and its possible opening, in order to avoid potential ecological alterations and risks to the environment.

He also warned that the lake is an important source of water supply for seven municipalities, about 20% of the population of the department of Boyacá, and has been recognized as an endangered bird conservation area.

Finally, the court indicated that the preventive measure must be maintained while it is determined that there are no damages and risks that affect the flora, fauna and the water ecosystem.

The protection was filed before the judges of the Tunja circuit against the Ministries of Environment, Agriculture and Health, as well as the National Institute for the Surveillance of Medicines and Food (Invima), the ICA, the Superintendency of Home Public Services, the Government of Boyacá, Corpoboyacá and the municipalities of Nobsa, Sogamoso, Iza, Firavitoba, Cuítiva, Tota and Aquitania.
