This Friday new details were known about the complaint for sexual abuse against a priest in Bogotá. The priest Rafael Antonio Rojas was sent to jail while the investigation is being carried out.
According to the Police, the case was uncovered on August 21 when one of the two young women defended herself from an attempted abuse by the parish priest. The latter was injured and taken to a hospital.
“The trust of the families is gained, of the citizens who come to require attention from this priest and he takes advantage of it,” said Colonel Necton Lincon Borja, operational commander of the Bogotá Police, about the priest who spent seven years at in charge of the Santa María del Monte parish, in the San Luis neighborhood, via the La Calera municipality.
Meanwhile, the complainants spoke with Noticias Caracol.
“My sister suffered an abortion from him. She was abused from a very young age, from the age of 13, 14, since Father Rafael Ríos began to work in the San Luis neighborhood, via La Calera ”, said one of them.
And he added: “On my part I did not speak, and my sister also, because of the rejection, because suddenly they would not believe us.”
Diana Rodríguez Franco, Secretary for Women, learned about the case and affirmed that they were accompanied.
The priest Rafael Antonio Rojas denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty. However, the judge sent him to jail on a preventive basis while he continues the process that will decide later if he calls him to trial.
