An alleged thief killed and an officer of the National Police injured, was the balance that left a shooting that took place this Saturday in the Universal neighborhood of Barranquilla, according to what the authorities announced.
The information collected by the authorities indicates that the patrolman Iván Noriega Durán, who had finished his shift, was returning home when two subjects intercepted him who apparently had the intention of robbing him.
The patrolman reacted not to get mugged and began to struggle for a long time with one of the subjects. Another man helped the officer, however, the criminal escaped and when he fled he was shot four times and he was lying on the public highway, without vital signs.
The man was identified as Sergio Luis Castro Pertuz, 38 years old. He was wearing khaki shorts, tennis shoes, and a dark blue polo shirt with red highlights on the sleeves.
The officer received six bullet wounds in his body. One of them in the left shoulder, another in the left arm, another in the axillary region of the same side, one in the abdomen, one more in the left inguinal region and another in the right gluteus.
Initially, agent Noriega Durán was taken to the regional clinic of the National Police, but due to the seriousness of his injuries, he had to be referred to the Clínica de la Costa, where he is hospitalized receiving medical attention.
It should be noted that, in one of the security cameras of one of the houses in the sector, part of the altercation was recorded. At the beginning several shots are heard, when they are already focused, three men are seen struggling, two against one. One of them manages to get away (apparently the alleged thief) and when he tried to flee, another four detonations are heard and in the audio of the camera people are heard shouting and others sobbing.
The authorities seek to clarify this case, which shocked the inhabitants of the 33F street sector between careers 3 and 4 of the Universal neighborhood of the capital of Atlántico.
