The sending of the process from the Court to the Prosecutor’s Office had been requested by the defense of the former president and former senator, arguing that the Court lost jurisdiction to advance the investigation from the moment the former president resigned his seat in Congress.

The case in which Uribe Vélez remains under house arrest refers to the alleged payment made to witnesses who had testified against the now former senator specifically for the crimes of bribery of witnesses and procedural fraud.
