Superindustria opens investigation to WhatsApp in Colombia – Sectors – Economy

The Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (SIC) seeks to establish whether WhatsApp LLC complies or not in Colombia with the regulation concerning the collection and processing of personal data, for which it announced the opening of an investigation regarding the company in the country.

According to the Colombian surveillance and control entity, this investigation is in addition to the actions initiated by various international authorities, “in order to obtain clear and precise information on the data treatment policy and the standard that it must comply with, in order to protect the rights of the users of the instant messaging application “.

The announcement of this opening of inquiry is presented just in the midst of the controversy that the change in the rules of the game for users has caused of this popular social network.

Precisely, this Friday WhatsApp announced that it is moving the date of the update of the new game rules, which will no longer be next February 8 for people to agree to the terms.

“We are moving the date that people will be asked to review and accept the terms. No one will have their account suspended or deleted on February 8th. We are also going to do much more to clear up misinformation about how privacy and security work on WhatsApp, “said the company, which is part of the Facebook conglomerate.

WhatsApp is an application that offers messaging and calls, and is available in
